Digital knuckle bump to Dina Pielaet of Ventura College (in my home state of California) for producing an elegant introductory video on media literacy. What I find exceptional about Dina’s video is that its form follows its function: Unlike other Web 2.0 videos out there that mimic the MTV fast-paced in-your-face speed of modern life, Dina’s video is slower and almost soothing. The slow pace and the artistic visuals compel the viewer to slow down and ponder the vast sea of information. It’s the antithesis of the stress and compulsiveness that plague many of us today. At the same time, it raises serious concerns and issues a call to action for all of us that believe in the democratic ideal. The 25-minute video is definitely worth viewing and sharing:
